Sándor SZÁSZ
CV
Sándor Szász (b. 1976 Marosvásárhely, Transylvania, Romania) currently resides and works in Budapest. Since completing his studies in painting at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, (1995-2001) Szász’s works have been shown in an expansive number of group exhibitions throughout Eastern and Central Europe, and America. In 2013 alone, spaces in Switzerland, Romania, and Hungary have hosted Szász’s paintings. Szász has been the recipient of numerous stipends and awards, such as the Derkovits stipend in 2009 and the prestigious STRABAG painting prize in 2004.
His apocalyptic landscapes are left to naturalize in vulnerability and seclusion. We come to regard his work as best aspiring to be a reflection of a bashed, crazed world of orderly projections. The naturalistic visions of these apocalyptic morn systems come to sink into the timelessness of natures’ actual ABCs.
