Dora Juhasz follows the school of lyrical abstract. Using an all-over oval motif she relies on her subconscious to dictate colours and patterns. She has won several major art awards in Hungary, and her work can be found in private and public collections in Europe and the U.S.

On my paintings I use simple motifs like stripes, dots, smears and patches of colours. These elements give the structure and rhythm of the paintings. Having no central focus in the picture, each dot finds its place in comparison to the other one, thus creating a raster-like pattern. This composition follows no strict rule, it evolves in a more life-like organic way. I let the painting develop gradually. All the visual components and the work method, like accidental strokes and transparent layers of paint, become an essential part of the painting, since they trap different phases within the painting and therefore time as well.
Being an artist gives me the greatest sense of freedom. In the studio I just start painting with no direct preconception, always staying open to experimentation, faith and chance. And, of course the desire to create something harmonious and beautiful.
It’s a struggle with transforming material into something 'else' and oneself, lacking any kind of rules or restrictions, experiencing both the joys and frustrations of creation.
As long as I can keep this kind of freedom I will keep on painting.
